🍔 These beef and cheddar sliders are very easy to prepare and don’t take too much work to assemble!
My 2 Best Tips For Making Ground Beef Sliders With Hawaiian Rolls
#1 - Best Beef Fat Ratio: For the juiciest and most flavorful sliders, use a ground beef ratio of 90% lean and 10% fat. This will keep the meat moist and add flavor without being too greasy. If the ground beef you use has a higher fat content, then you'll want to spoon out any excess fat after browning the meat. Too much fat can make your Hawaiian rolls soggy!
#2 - Don't Skimp On Flavor: Don't skip sautéing the onion with the ground beef - this adds a ton of flavor to the filling! The butter, parsley, and garlic glaze take these sliders to the next level. Be sure to brush it generously on top of the rolls before baking. This will also give the rolls a nice golden color.

These beef and cheddar sliders are very easy to prepare and don’t take too much work to assemble. Every bite is packed with a sweet roll, your favorite BBQ sauce, meat, and melty cheese.
It’s so hard to resist eating the whole pan but thankfully this makes 12 sliders so you can help yourself to a couple!
BBQ beef sliders on Hawaiian rolls are a great meal to serve at lunch, but they can also be the perfect appetizer for your next tailgate. Serve it up with some Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese or Frozen Peas and Carrots and you can have a table full of delicious options to enjoy at halftime.

- You can make the ground beef filling ahead of time and store it in the fridge until you're ready to assemble and bake the sliders. It'll last well for up to 3 days.
- Use a different type of ground meat: If you're not a fan of ground beef, you can easily swap it out for another ground meat such as turkey, chicken, or pork.
- Pick your favorite BBQ sauce: Any BBQ sauce will work for this recipe. Sweet, smoky, or spicy - it's up to you! You can also mix in some hot sauce for an extra kick.
- Mix up the cheese: Cheddar cheese works great because it melts well, but you can use any type of cheese you like.
- Add some toppings: Pineapple slices, red onions, bacon, or pickles are all great topping options for these sliders.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds: For some extra flavor, sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the butter topping before baking.
- Try a different type of bread: I love how Hawaiian rolls come still connected, making it easy to assemble a large batch of sliders. But any bread rolls would work! Just pack them tightly in the baking dish before adding the filling. Pretzel rolls or brioche buns could be fun choices.
- Chips and dip — My chili cheese dip would be delicious with these sliders!
- Herby creamed potatoes
- Coleslaw
- Cheesy hashbrown casserole
- Sweet potato fries
- Spinach salad with poppy seed dressing
- Baked beans (Bush's copycat recipe)
- Grilled pineapple
- Avocado corn salad
- Macaroni salad
- Grilled corn on the cob

Recipe FAQs
Kind of — the filling can be prepped ahead, but I don't recommend assembling and cooking until it's almost time to serve. To prep ahead: Make the BBQ beef filling and keep it stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Just use when ready and follow the recipe directions. Do not assemble sliders in advance as the bread will become soggy from the filling.
Make sure your oven is preheated to 350°F, and you cover the baking dish with foil while baking. This keeps the heat in, melting the cheese and cooking the sliders without burning the bottoms. You can also place your baking dish on the top rack of the oven and put an empty baking sheet on the bottom rack to help diffuse the heat.
Hot fillings can cause the bottom of your sliders to become soggy. To avoid this issue, let your ground beef mixture cool slightly before assembling the sliders. Also, some cheeses release more moisture than others, so choose a cheese that melts well but doesn't release too much liquid - like cheddar!
Aside from insulated serving dishes or electric food warmers, you can also use a slow cooker set on the "warm" setting to keep your sliders warm for a crowd. For a larger batch of sliders, place them on a baking sheet and cover with foil, then keep them in a warm oven (around 200°F) until ready to serve. Just keep an eye on them so they don't accidentally overcook.
