My 2 Best Tips For Making Air Fryer Corn on the Cob

Don't Overcrowd the Basket: Proper air circulation is key to even cooking. If you have a smaller air fryer, cook the corn in batches rather than cramming multiple ears together. This ensures each ear gets properly crispy and cooks evenly.

Flip Halfway Through: Turn the corn at the 7-8 minute mark to ensure even browning on all sides. This simple step prevents one side from becoming too dark while the other remains pale.

I really like using my Air Fryer, especially during the summer heat when I just don't feel like being even hotter in the kitchen!

Unlike boiling corn, this method doesn't require bringing large pots of water to a boil, saving time and energy. Plus, you won't have to deal with draining hot water or waiting for it to heat up.

The air fryer creates an ideal combination of tender kernels with slightly caramelized edges that you simply can't achieve with boiling. The olive oil helps develop that irresistible crispy exterior while keeping the inside juicy.

Top with some seasonings (and butter!) and you have a perfect heap of corn on the cob!

    Ingredients

    • 4 fresh corn on the cob (Or however many you need or will fit in your air fryer.)
    • 4 teaspoons olive oil
    • salt and pepper (to taste)
    • butter (optional for serving)

    Instructions

    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
    • Peel off the husks and remove the silk from the corn. Rinse the corn under running water and pat dry with paper towels.
    • Lightly brush each ear of corn with olive oil. This will help the corn develop a nice crispy texture as it cooks.
    • Sprinkle salt and pepper over the oiled corn, adjusting the amount to your taste preference.
    • Place the prepared corn in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Make sure they are not overcrowded to allow even cooking. (Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the corn in batches to ensure proper air circulation.)
    • Air fry the corn for approximately 5 minutes. Turn the corn to ensure even browning, and then air fry for another 5 minutes. The corn should be tender and slightly browned when done.
    • Carefully remove the corn from the air fryer basket. Let them cool for a moment before serving. Top with a pat of butter and serve.

    Notes

Just make as many ears as you need, you'll need about 2 teaspoon of oil per ear of corn.
Be thorough while removing the silk from the corn so that they all come off. I like to wash them under a little warm water to help remove the silks.
While olive oil is recommended, you can experiment with other oils like melted butter or avocado oil for a different flavor profile.
Beyond salt and pepper, feel free to experiment with other seasonings like chili powder, garlic powder, or herbs to suit your taste preferences.
The corn will be hot when it comes out of the air fryer, so use caution when handling. Allowing it to cool enough to eat.
Can I make air fryer corn on the cob without oil?
A: While you can skip the oil, it won't develop the same crispy, caramelized exterior. The oil helps create that perfect texture and helps seasonings adhere. If avoiding oil, consider using a light cooking spray instead.
Q: What's the best way to store leftover air fryer corn?
A: Store leftover corn in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place back in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes, or remove kernels from the cob and use in salads, soups, or other dishes.
Try brushing with melted butter mixed with garlic powder, or sprinkle with chili powder and lime juice for Mexican street corn flavor. Parmesan cheese and herbs also make excellent additions.
Let It Rest Before Serving - Allow the corn to cool for 2-3 minutes after cooking. This prevents burns and lets the flavors settle. The corn will be extremely hot straight from the air fryer, so patience pays off for safe handling.

    Recipe FAQs

Do I need to soak the corn before air frying?

No soaking required! Unlike some cooking methods, air fryer corn on the cob doesn't need pre-soaking. Simply remove the husks, clean off the silk, rinse, and pat dry before seasoning and cooking.

Can I cook frozen corn on the cob in the air fryer?

Yes, you can cook frozen corn directly in the air fryer. Add 3-5 extra minutes to the cooking time and there's no need to thaw first. The corn may not get quite as crispy as fresh corn, but it will still be delicious.

How do I know when the air fryer corn is done?

The corn is ready when the kernels are tender when pierced with a fork and have developed light golden-brown spots. This typically takes 10-15 minutes at 375°F, but cooking time may vary slightly based on the size of your corn ears.
