Halloween pretzels are chocolate covered crunchy and salty sweet bites of festive goodness. You’re going to love how fun these are to make and eat!
Halloween is a fantastic time of year because everyone gets excited. Spooky bats, dressing up, pumpkins everywhere, and lots and lots of chocolate! What’s not to love?
These Halloween pretzels are a fun and fantastic way to show your holiday spirit in a fun and unique way. Not only that but decorating these little Halloween chocolate-covered pretzels is a fun way to get the kids to take part in the delicious mess making.
These pretzels are simple and easy to make, and the best part- even if you mess up, they still look good (and taste amazing).
What makes them even better is that we use colored candy melts! So minimal ingredients and effort is needed! Who doesn’t enjoy that?!
How to make Halloween Pretzels
- Separate your colored candy melts by colors, unless you intentionally plan on mixing colors for a unique hue.
- Place them in bowls or small mason jars and then microwave in 15 second intervals, stirring between each until smooth. Be careful not to overcook the chocolate as it will seize and cause the chocolate to burn and solidify, making it unusable.
- Dip the pretzels in the melted candy coating of choice. You can use tongs, toothpicks, or even a fork to do this. It will be messy no matter which method you use, so try them all until you find a way that works best for you.
- Place the coated pretzels on a solid surface and then decorate with candy decorations as desired.
- Let them rest until the chocolate has set and then eat or store away for later.
How to store chocolate covered pretzels
The easiest way to store chocolate covered pretzels is by storing them in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 weeks.
You can also choose to freeze them for a longer storage option as well! They thaw pretty quickly on the counter so let them rest for a few minutes before biting into a Halloween chocolate-coated pretzel.
Can I use regular chocolate?
Yes and no. Regular chocolate is fine and totally great with pretzels. It melts easy (just like melters chocolate) and can add a nice flavor change with the options ranging from dark to white.
Unfortunately, regular chocolate cannot be colored with food dyes as it will have an adverse reaction and cause the chocolate to seize. So if you want to use regular chocolate, it must be in the natural chocolate color and not a colored one.
Chocolate covered pretzel deocorating ideas
- Looking for some fun inspiration? As you can see, I made a variety of small pretzels that look spooky and fun. Using orange-colored chocolate and green M&Ms I was able to make a pumpkin pretzel.
- With different-sized candy eyes, sprinkles, and other colors I created zombies, monsters, and cute little ghosts too!
- You can mix and match colors, drizzle chocolate over for stripes, or change up the candy decorations for a wide range of Halloween ideas!
- A white-dipped pretzel with drizzles of yellow and orange could even look like festive candy corn.
- Filling in the holes with darker chocolate color and then adding colorful eyes could make a more ghoulish-looking zombie as well.
With colorful candy melts, we can create fantastic looking pretzels that look like pumpkins, ghosts, zombies, aliens, or whatever else your creative mind can come up with. So enjoy a few minutes of fun with this edible and easy Halloween craft for the whole family to enjoy.
