What’s not to love about herb vinaigrette? It’s the perfect way to add flavor to a dish and is a super yummy staple in any kitchen. Whether you’re using it as a salad dressing or marinade, this versatile fresh herb vinaigrette is sure to elevate any meal!

If you’re ready to step things up a notch and create your own homemade classic lemon herb vinaigrette – this is the recipe for you! My flavorful and zesty dressing is so easy to put together and only requires a few simple ingredients you likely already have in your pantry.

There are endless possibilities when it comes to creating your own herb vinaigrette. For this basic herb vinaigrette recipe, I’ve used a mix of my favorite fresh herbs, including basil and oregano. But, the best part about making your own dressing at home is that you can tailor the flavors to your liking. Don’t like basil? Swap it out for another herb like parsley or thyme!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

  • Super simple yet delicious. My basic herb vinaigrette recipe is such an easy way to add a ton of flavor to any dish. We should all have a go-to vinaigrette recipe to hand, and this is mine! All you need is a few minutes, and you’ll have your new go-to dressing ready in no time.
  • You can make it your own! As I mentioned, one of the greatest things about this recipe is that you can tailor the flavors to your liking. Feel free to experiment with different herbs and spices until you find your perfect combination.
  • It’s versatile. My fresh herb vinaigrette is perfect for salads but can also be used as a marinade for chicken or fish. It’s a complete flavor-bomb that will take your meal from ordinary to extraordinary!

What can you serve fresh herb vinaigrette with?

This dressing is incredibly adaptable; it can be used on so many things! I love drizzling my lemon herb vinaigrette over an easy green salad for something simple and fresh. I also sometimes swap out the dressing I usually use for my kale apple salad when I want to switch things up. Herb vinaigrette is also fantastic when served as a dipping sauce for bread or crudités.

Plus, did you know you can drizzle fresh herb vinaigrette over meat or veggies- mind BLOWN!

How do you store fresh herb vinaigrette?

If you have used fresh herbs for the ultimate flavor-fest, you can store my vinaigrette in an airtight container (like a mason jar) in the fridge for up to 5 days. Alternatively, if you’ve chosen to use dried herbs, you can store your dressing at room temperature. When using dried herbs, the vinaigrette can last for weeks (if you can make it last that long!).

Make sure you shake the dressing before each use, as the oil and vinegar can separate over time.

What are some alternatives for herb vinaigrette?

I get it; sometimes, you want to switch up your salad dressing game! If you’re in the mood for something a little less herby, you must try my simple red wine vinaigrette. Or, if you love your dressings to be both sweet and savory, my homemade balsamic vinaigrette is always a winner.

Once you realize how simple it is to make your own dressing at home, you’ll never go back to store-bought again!
