When you think of Utah and summer grilling, what do you think?? FRY SAUCE! Fry sauce is a state staple. It’s so good and I’ll tell you how to exactly how to make it.
It isn’t a summertime cookout in Utah without a burger and fry sauce, so I combined the two here into an amazing Fry Sauce Beef Burger.
While grilling is always fun, food safety is no joke! It’s super important to be careful when handling raw meat. Here are some great food safety tips that are sure to keep your grilling time delicious and safe!
Food Safety dos:
- Wash hands thoroughly before and after handling raw meat.
- Use separate plates, cutting boards, utensils for raw vs. cooked foods to prevent cross-contamination.
- Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure beef is properly cooked.
- Following USDA guidelines for proper cooking of beef.
Food Safety don’ts:
- Wear dangling jewelry or have unrestrained hair when preparing beef.
- Cross contaminate or temperature abuse any food products.
- Refer to USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service resources for other food safety tips.
This burger is not only stuffed with fry sauce, but the Ground Beef is seasoned well to make the perfect burger. Don’t substitute pre-made patties in this recipe, they won’t work as well.
I also recommend using 80/20 Ground Beef, this adds to the flavor of the burger and keeps it from drying out on the grill.
How to Make Fry Sauce Beef Burgers
- Combine the ketchup and mayonnaise in a small bowl, set aside.
- Combine the spices in a small bowl, set aside.
- Divide the Ground Beef into 8 pieces and flatten into patties about 4 inches wide. They will be thin, but that is ok!
- Season each piece with the spice mixture by sprinkling it on both sides.
- Spoon 1 tablespoon of fry sauce onto 4 of the patties.
- Use the remaining 4 patties as tops for the patties with fry sauce on them.
- Gently crimp the edges with a fork, smoothing them with your hands afterwards.
How to Grill Hamburgers
- Heat the grill to 400°F , about medium heat.
- Place the burgers on the grates. This is easily done by using a long-handled grilling spatula.
- Let the patties cook for about 8 minutes on each side, until the internal temperature reaches 165 °F on a meat thermometer.
What goes with grilled hamburgers?
So many great sides can go with grilled hamburgers to make it part of a balanced plate. I love to grill corn, zucchini, or even asparagus while the burgers are cooking so everything is barbecued to perfection at the same time.
