Hey! I’m Alli, the creator of the website Longbourn Farm where I share farmstead life and simple homemade recipes. I believe that family meals create special moments and those moments become treasured memories. In addition to tried-and-true kitchen favorites, I share practical farm and garden tips.
I excel at making things simple this applies in the kitchen and on the farm! Call me lazy, call me smart, call me a lazy smarty-pants, either works. I keep farmstead life low-maintenance and keep things real – showing all aspects of the farm. I use my formal education in agriculture to help you understand farming and ranching. I believe knowledge and choices in the grocery store empower you to feel confident in the kitchen!
I completed a BS degree in Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Science with an emphasis in Biotechnology and an MS in Animal Nutrition with a focus on Ruminants.
During my undergraduate education, I worked in reproductive cloning labs, and during that time I gained a unique and in-depth education on how biotechnology can pair with agriculture to help feed a hungry world.
It was during my Beef Production class that I developed a strong passion for helping bridge the communication gap between producers and consumers.
During my Master’s program, I gained more hands-on experience and a solid understanding of how science and agriculture can work together to increase animal productivity and efficiency.
I am so glad I finally was able to put my passion for agriculture and where food comes from together with my passion for cooking and creating magical meals and memories in my home. I love sharing with you all and value you being here! Thank you.

A friendly reminder…
There is really just one rule here, and it’s one that I’m adamant about: having a choice about the food you buy and eat is a luxury and a blessing.
Bashing on me or anyone else for a method or food type we use or purchase will absolutely not be tolerated. This means that I typically won’t say one method for purchasing or raising food is “right” and one is “wrong,” there is a place for almost everything in agriculture – personal or large scale.

Will I need to make any changes to the easy cinnamon roll recipe at 8400 feet?
Alli says
Hi Terri! Yes, you might need to. The most important thing will be to match the consistency of the dough in the video/pictures by increasing the flour. If you make them and have more questions let me know, we can troubleshoot.
Brenda says
The canned green bean recipe is a huge hit with my husband and daughter!
Alli says
So glad you like it!
Debbie says
Hello! Just made the cinnamon rolls, and they are wonderful and easy. We are at 6200 ft. elevation. Wondering what state your farm is? Are all the recipes basically ready for the high altitude cook? Thank you!
Alli says
Hi Debbie! We are in Northern Utah at about 4500 ft so all are ready for high altitude.

Hi Alli, thanks for the barn cat vaccinations section. Im wo dering about boosters for barn kittens? I did the 1st set myself ( a 3way and rabies and a dewormer- did i miss anything?) So now im wo dering when i booster those, a d is the booster just the same vaccinations given again?
Thanks for clarifying this for me!
Alli says
Hi Sarah! Yes, boosters are just the same vaccines given again, this literally boosts the immune response, increasing the protection the vaccine will give your kittens.

Just stumbled upon your blog. We are looking to get some land and start a hobby farm with our kids. I’m also lds. I’m trying to figure out what valley you are in? We are from Utah but the air quality on the wasatch front is not something we want to move back to(have been in NYC for 13 years). Are you in a back valley? Do you like it? We are trying to find the best place to buy land. Any advice would be welcome!
Thanks
Diana

Hi Alli–I was trying to follow your links on this site to twitter & instagram & both keep coming back as link broken/sorry this page not available. So I went into each site & typed in your Longbourn name on each of their sites & you did come up. So just wanted to share with you this, about the message I was receiving. I am signed up on your e-mail, so not sure why I was getting this. I did find & follow individually. Love your posts!
Sincerely, Linda
