True Treasure

10/29/16 | Farm & Family

I had a chance this week to get some cute photos of my two kids and it was so fun! Abram was super sweet with Aspen and she was semi-cooperative which is awesome for a two week old infant. As I looked through the pictures, I was reminded of what is truly important in my life, because sometimes I get distracted.

It’s easy for me to get caught up in the rush of life – being a mom, running a blog/business, trying to keep my house and farm in order. I can forget to slow down and enjoy the sweet moments that happen every day.

Abram

Like being outside with Abram and just sitting there. Not scrubbing a water bucket while he plays. Not cleaning the chicken coop or scheduling social media posts while he plays. Just watching him while he plays, because he won’t dig in the dirt forever and I certainly won’t always be invited.

Or simply holding my new baby just because I can. Not laying her down so I can vacuum. Or putting her in the swing so I can work. Just holding her and enjoying her tiny self, because she won’t be tiny for long.

These two are where my heart lies. They are my true treasures, nothing else I do compares to the time I spend with them. I do my best to make the most of every second I have with them, but I’m easily distracted. It’s good for me to be reminded of what’s truly important often. I read this scripture this morning and it reminded me of these photos and my sweet babies.

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6:21

PS: I let my mom trim Abram’s hair. And I didn’t cry! But it’s still kinda long and he will probably still be called a girl. I’m ok with it.
