I put Show Sheen in my hair.

So this one time {yesterday} I put Show Sheen in my hair. If you don't know what Show Sheen is, it's a coat conditioner for horses to make them shiny. BUT it also has magical detangling properties - which is why I used it. On horses. And now on myself.

    #imnotweirdipromise #nevermind #iprobablyam

Here is the thing. I have naturally curly hair, and it's getting pretty long. Which means that it LOVES to form awesome dreadlocks after rubbing against my back all day long. And before you are concerned with my hygiene, I promise I take good care of my hair {condition, trims, all that good stuff}. This literally happens in a single day.

I know what your thinking: #justdodreds

    Haha! No.

Anyways. I was pretty sick of having to pick them apart with my fingers.

    #tedious and #painful

Which lead me to think, "There has to be a better solution for this." Besides cutting my hair off, which is what I normally do. Which lead me to think of getting dreadlocks out of horse tails. Which lead my mind to show sheen. Which lead me to think that putting it in my own hair would be a great idea.

    #goodthoughtprocess

And guess what? It was basically the best hair breakthrough I've had since discovering dark dry shampoo {can I get an #amen?!}.

Moral of the story: Show Sheen is a great human hair detangler. Keep it in your bathroom.

There is probably a human version of detangler I could use...or I could just keep using Show Sheen.

    The End.

    Love, Alli {#imahorse}

PS: Please tell me you have used Show Sheen in your hair. If no one has, someone should probably lie so I can feel better about being clueless about real hair products. Because I'm really #clueless.

PPS: I only discovered dark dry shampoo like 6 months ago. #embarassing

Hi! You are not weird or crazy! I got to thinking the same thing as I am older and my grey hair has started looking dull and dry and kind of frizzy on the ends (and yes, I take care of it, trims, shampoo and conditioner all the things) So I went to the farm store a couple of days ago and bought some show sheen. I LOVE IT!!!!

      There you go!

After reading your article I started to use it after showering. I have thinner kindof straight kindof curly hair. The ends are dry and broken so hoping SS helps repair them. Do you saturate your hair with it? I have used it a couple of times and after spraying, combing it through, and letting it air dry it seems to make the ends kindof stiff and not really tangle free. How often do you use it? Everyday?
      Thanks!

Yes, yes, of course! We horse girls have been putting it in our hair since it first came out! Do not worry. I had to laugh. Years ago I was walking through the shopping mall in Melbourne FL and a guy was selling this 'miracle hair detangler product' and he put some in my wild and crazy wavy bleached hair and it really was nice! So I bought a little bottle of it. Compared it with my trusty bottle at home in Michigan of Showsheen (in my bathroom!)...same ingredients. Duh!!

Hello! Yes I use show sheen in my hair. I have coarse curly hair. And as you know farming, dust, horses does not agree with it! Lol! I spray show sheen to tame it to a manageable state! It has protein to build broken strands! And a litre will last me a lifetime!, you are not alone!! I also use zev for a really bad cough! You think Buckley’s human tastes bad! Lol

I always figure that products developed for horses are going to be ultra safe because horses are a huge investment, even millions of $$$, so no company is going to put out a product that will risk harming, or even damaging coat. Pure beautiful products, yes, without the cosmetic company mark-up. If you learn your ingredients you'll see how they are fooling naiive people.
Love to you all, glad to stumble over this post. So much fun the way we hide our guilty secrets!
We all know that our beauty on the inside is most important, but it is nice when the outside is at its best too.

I knew about Bag Balm and Mane &Tail Conditioner, how has it taken me an extra few decades to think about Show Sheen!?

And someone mentioned it repells dirt! Must try it, as I sometimes feel like the barn equivalent of Pig Pen from Peanuts.

Thank you for posting this fun and informative conversation!

So. I had the same thought process as you and was lead here by a google search, and I’m with you, amen on the show sheen in my hair. Feel stupid I didn’t try it 40 years ago when I first started using show sheen on my horse.

Yes, I have been using Show Sheen on my hair for nearly 40 years. I am now 56 yrs old. I began to use it on my horse 40 years ago & figured if it was safe for horse's hair, then it was probably safe for human hair. (If you research the individual ingredients, Show Sheen is 100% natural.)

I have always loved the soft, supple feel of my hair following using Show Sheen. When I blow dry my hair 4-5 days a week, I ALWAYS spray Show Sheen in my hair prior. The softness & shine are unmatched. And, yes, I've tried many other "human" hair shining products, & none compares to Show Sheen....

And, the other best part about Show Sheen is that one of the ingredients used definitely was desiged with horses in mind. But, it benefits human's hair, as well.... It repels dust & dirt!... : )

So, happy shining & detangling to all who chose to outsmart expensive beauty manufacturing companies, & decided to use natural products that were purposely designed to be chemical-free for animals.
