I know, I know. Everyone knows how to make scrambled eggs, right?? You might think you know how to make scrambled eggs, but do they come out dry? Or with uncooked portions? Or rubbery? I have a few tips for how to cook scrambled eggs and make them come out perfect every single time.

Cook Scrambled Eggs in a Nonstick Pan

I usually use stainless steel pans or cast iron, but when it comes to cooking eggs just go with the nonstick!! This really does make a difference when you’re looking for the best scrambled eggs that are fluffy and light.

Use a nonstick pan and a heat-proof rubber or silicone spatula. These are your tools for fluffy scrambled eggs success! You can find my favorite nonstick pans in the Recommended Products section down below.

Whisk those eggs up good!

You want to whisk the eggs up really well before pouring them into your pan. Don’t try to just mix them up quickly after you crack them into your pan {hey, we’ve all done it this way at least a time or two}.

Whisking them beforehand makes sure you get even cooking throughout the eggs because the yolks and whites will cook at different rates if they aren’t properly mixed together.  I also like adding a little bit of milk to my scrambled eggs and whisking that in thoroughly is important as well.

Cook Scrambled Eggs on Low Heat

You will get the best scrambled eggs when you exercise patience and cook them low and slow. I recommend heating your pan on low heat while you prepare the eggs and keeping the heat on low for the whole cooking process. This takes more time but ensures your eggs will come out fluffy and light, not dense and watery.

Add Scrambled Egg Mix-Ins at the End

If you love adding cheese or bacon or chives or anything else to your scrambled eggs, do it when they are almost done cooking. This ensures they have time to cook up and get nice and fluffy before the mix-ins weigh them down. I also wait to add salt and pepper until this stage.

Take the Pan Off the Heat!

When your perfect, fluffy, scrambled eggs look almost but not quite cooked, turn off the heat. They will continue to cook to the perfect doneness as they sit in the hot pan. If you cook them until they are done in the pan, the residual heat will overcook them and your beautiful, fluffy, scrambled eggs will turn tough and chewy.

Hopefully, you now know how to make fluffy scrambled eggs! I know it a basic skill, but I hate hearing that people don’t like eating scrambled eggs! I promise it’s probably because you probably haven’t ever had properly cooked scrambled eggs if you feel this way.

Also, I’m just picky about things like this, so I like to share my knowledge with all you other picky egg eaters out there. Ha! Happy Egg Scrambling!

Equipment

  • Redmond Season Salt

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs large
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon season salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
US Customary - Metric

Instructions

  • Start heating a nonstick skillet on low heat.
  • Whisk together the eggs and milk until evenly combined.
  • Melt butter in the nonstick skillet.
  • Pour eggs into the skillet.
  • Mix the eggs as they cook almost constantly. I like to use a rubber spatula and swirl it through the eggs to break them up and encourage even cooking.
  • When about 3/4 of the eggs are cooked and the rest are still liquid, add in the salt and pepper and any other mix-ins you like (cheese, bacon, chives, etc.).
  • Continue to mix until the eggs are almost done, but still slightly moist. Turn off the heat and let the eggs sit for a couple of minutes to cook completely through.
