Fluffy buttermilk pancakes are easy to make with the right ingredients. Look no further for the perfect recipe – it’s the best ever!
Fluffy buttermilk pancakes are a traditional breakfast food that we all enjoy! If people didn’t love pancakes there wouldn’t be restaurants dedicated to them on the menu, right? Learning to make the perfect pancake is a challenge that many people try to do.
This buttermilk pancake recipe will help make it easier to create that tall and fluffy stack of pancakes. Another part of the trick is to make sure that your griddle is prepped correctly. You need a perfect temperature from the start, not too hot and not too cold. This helps you get even browning and helps the pancakes to cook thoroughly.
You can check that your griddle is the correct temperature before adding your pancake batter (and potentially ruining the first pancake) by placing a few droplets of water onto the griddle. You want the water to dance around on the pan and sizzle as they evaporate. Once their gone, you can put down a little batter and get that first pancake underway!
When you follow the instructions below, you’ll no doubt have the best buttermilk pancakes on the planet. So flavorful and glorious as they sit there on the plate, ready for your fork to dig in! You may even go so far as to say that they are fluffy works of art!
After creating the most amazing fluffy buttermilk pancakes, you’re going to want to make sure that you add syrups or toppings worthy of their tender, buttery, amazingness. How to make fluffy buttermilk pancakes
- In a bowl or large pour spout mouthed liquid measuring cup, whisk together the dry ingredients.
- Create a well in the dry ingredients and then whisk in the wet ingredients until they’re just combined. The batter will still be a little lumpy, and that is okay.
- Heat a griddle to medium-low and let it fully come to temperature.
- Brush the griddle with butter or lightly spray it with nonstick cooking spray.
- Pour out about ⅓ cup portions of batter into individual pancakes or make them whatever size you choose.
- When the edges are set and the bubbles in the center of the pancakes don’t fill quickly, flip the pancake.
- Cook for 1-2 minutes on the next side until it is cooked through.
What is the difference between buttermilk pancakes and regular pancakes?
Buttermilk has a natural acidity to it that helps to break down the baking soda in the batter. This helps to give it a taller and fluffier appearance as well as gives you a much softer and more tender pancake.
Why do my pancakes go crispy?
Crispy or rubbery pancakes aren’t fun and they often come as a result of the batter being over-mixed. Remember, it’s okay if your batter is still lumpy, so don’t go crazy mixing it and you should be fine.
How do you get crispy edges on pancakes?
Getting a nice crisp edge to a soft and tender pancake is what it’s al about. You can achieve this by using butter to grease your griddle instead of cooking spray. Butter gives it a flavorful crisp whereas cooking spray doesn’t give any additional benefits to your pancake.
