I love making homemade salad dressing and this creamy buffalo chicken salad dressing. My mother always made awesome salads and dressings at almost every meal growing up so not only are they delicious, they are a taste of home. While her signature dressing type was a vinaigrette, I have been working on perfecting the creamy side of the salad dressing world. Andy prefers creamy dressings to "the weird sour or sweet kind" {HA!} and I will basically do anything short of jump off a cliff to encourage his vegetable consumption. This creamy buffalo salad chicken dressing is my current favorite!
Here is a little secret for you: The base for any creamy salad dressing is the same. Mayo, sour cream, and milk. You want more mayo than sour cream about 25-33% more. The milk is totally up to you, it's just used to make the dressing whatever consistency you prefer.
I like my dressings a little more on the thin side so I tend to use a bit more milk than some of the more traditional recipes calls for. Additionally, if you make this it will keep really well in the fridge depending on how new your ingredients are. It will thicken up, so just thin it down with milk prior to serving it for the second time. Or third time...or fourth time 🙂

Creamy Buffalo Chicken Salad Dressing
Equipment
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup mayonnaise (generous)
- ⅓ cup sour cream (scant)
- 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons hot sauce (choose your favorite brand, and how much you'd like!)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
- 2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- ¼ cup milk or buttermilk (make the dressing your desired consistency by adjusting the amount of milk)
Instructions
- Mix all the ingredients together except the salt and pepper and milk.
- Splash in milk until it is the desired consistency,
- Season to taste and toss over your favorite chicken salad. I love this dressing with chicken and romaine!
