Baked BBQ Chicken Thighs are an easy dinner that the whole family will love! Done in just 35 minutes, it’s a winner for any day of the week.

Who says that you can only enjoy a Barbecue during sunny summer weather? Not me! We enjoy our BBQ chicken thighs baked in the oven when we can’t get out to the grill. These baked BBQ chicken thighs are crispy, sweet, juicy and delicious.

With this 4 ingredient BBQ chicken thigh recipe you can have dinner on the table in no time and with the nice summer-time feel these BBQ chicken thighs will bring, you’ll almost forget about the gray skies and endless rain clouds passing by outside.

Serve your BBQ chicken thighs up with a side of potato salad or a nice fruit jello and you can make any rainy day feel like a great day for a picnic indoors.

Or throw a green bean casserole and homestyle macaroni and cheese on the table and enjoy your chicken thighs as a nice comfort meal.

There’s really no wrong way to serve BBQ chicken thighs! Just make sure that you have enough napkins or wipes for everyone when they finish eating because it can get pretty messy (but worth it!).

Note: you may want to take pictures of the messy kid faces because those are always fun to look at!

How to Make Baked BBQ Chicken Thighs

  • Preheat your oven to 425ºF.
  • Pat the chicken thighs dry and then season them with the salt and pepper.
  • Brush both sides of the chicken thighs with half of the BBQ sauce.
  • Place the chicken thighs skin-side down on a lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the oven, and then turn over the chicken thighs. Brush with BBQ sauce again and return the pan to the oven.
  • Bake the thighs for another 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature registers 165ºF.

What Goes With BBQ Chicken Thighs?

BBQ chicken thighs can go great with just about anything from alfredo pasta to a bowl of baked beans.

Dress it up or dress it down depending on what you have on hand or what you feel like eating! I like my BBQ chicken thighs with green beans, the best cornbread, and a leafy green side salad with homemade ranch.

What Vegetables Go With BBQ Chicken?

BBQ chicken can go great with corn, zucchini, bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, asparagus, green beans, broccoli, and carrots (just to name a few!)

What matters most is how you cook them and season them with flavors that pair well together. But you can’t go wrong with a simple steamed veggie!

What Kind of Barbecue Sauce Should I Use?

You can use whatever type of barbecue sauce that you want! If you’re looking for hickory smoke, brown sugar, or some other incredible flavor than try something new or grab a bottle of your favorite (so you know it’s good).

How Do You Get BBQ Sauce to Stick to Chicken?

Patting your chicken thighs dry before applying the barbecue sauce will help to keep the sauce from sliding off into a pool of mess on the baking sheet, but for skinless thighs adding salt and pepper is another great tip.

The texture of the salt and the pepper will help the BBQ sauce to have something to hold on to so that it stays in place better. So don’t skip the steps in the recipe card, they each play a vital role in getting you well-coated thighs!
