Ok. If you have been reading along or follow me on Instagram, you know that I hate mice. Like not just hate but get legitimate anxiety over them. I think it is their elusiveness + ability to destroy in a short amount of time + the number of biology and communicable disease classes I have taken. Whatever the reason, I seriously can’t handle them.
Normally we get 1 or 2 in the same area of our house in October. They start coming in because it gets colder and we have searched high and low {and behind cabinets} for their entry point but cannot find it. We set a mouse trap, catch the nasty thing, and it’s done.
Well. Last year we had a crazy problem while we were out of town for the holiday’s and between having to deal with it all by myself + nursing hormones I was a wreck. Because that was such a disaster, my anxiety about them has increased quite a bit.
So. Are you ready for this?
We got in the car to run an errand on Monday and I looked down and realize there is mouse poop in the cup holder. My heart immediately started to race and I calmly asked Andy to stop and back down the driveway back to the house.
He is incredulous that there is truly mouse poop in the car but as soon as we stop he realizes I am in fact not having a crazy moment but there is actual mouse poop in the car.
But I am so proud of myself. I remained calm, we cleaned it up. I bleached until I was comfortable, and then we ran our errands.
But seriously:
WHAT?!?!?
Why in our car???????
The only explanation we have is that Andy went backpacking last weekend and they did have a chipmunk get into their packs…which means a mouse could have easily stowed away as well. He carried the packs in his car for everyone so it is possible that the mouse was in one and then hid in the car on the way home.
UGH.
Regardless, it’s gross.
And even more gross, we set a mouse trap up in the car. I was actually hoping we would catch it because then I would get some closure. Otherwise, we would have to just assume it left or wait for it to die somewhere in the vehicle which is just so nasty.
Have you ever had a mouse die in your wall? We haven’t *yet* but it happens and all you can do is wait out the stench.
If you are relating to this on any level, I’m sorry. If you are totally disgusted, I’m also sorry. Please know I keep my home and car very, very clean! It’s just something that happens.

The good news is, I think it’s gone for good. It’s been about a week and there isn’t any sign of the little stinker anywhere!
Hallelujah! I ain’t no Cinderella – those things are not my friends.

Aaaack! We are in the midst of this right now in our house. We’ve trapped 8 in the last couple of weeks and I finally thought we had the entrance sealed because we went a week without a sighting/catch. And then last night one scurries under the oven while we are eating dinner 8 feet away. NO! My husband set up 5 traps around the kitchen and house and this morning – no mouse. I hear ya on the closure thing. And we’re still waiting. It’s no bueno. I’m just glad we can commiserate, I guess? Pray for me!

AHHHHH!!! No!!! I’m SO sorry. I totally feel for you! I will definitely pray you can find it and a good solution! God has heard many prayers about mice from me – ha! 🙂 They are just such a pain and gross. I have found those sonic repellers actually do work, and Walmart has them on sale right now in the garden section! So see if those will help you out at all. BLAH!
