Puppy potty training is the big one, right? The question everyone has. How do you potty train a puppy or dog? Well, I think I have so good, solid, tried and true methods for you. Now, as a warning, this video is long. Like 15 minutes long! I tried to cut it down…but I think that all of this info could be useful so here it is! The video basically covers everything, so I’ll just post it and let you get a’watchin.
I cover puppy potty training and potty training tips for older dogs as well throughout the video so be sure and watch the whole thing. I will be wrapping up this video series later this week so if you have any more video requests, let me know! Check out all the posts in this series here.

Really helpful! How do you determine between corrective behavior when you catch your dog in the act vs ignoring the behavior?

Hi Anneli! If I catch them in the act, I just keep everything about my voice and body language very neutral. If they start to realize that they can get a reaction out of you (positive or negative attention is still attention and therefore a reward) by going potty in the house, that will open up a whole new can of worms. So usually, I’ll calmly but firmly touch their side to make them stop and then move them outside. I don’t say anything while doing this, but if they finish going outside I praise afterward. Does that help?
