My easy apple danish recipe is full of delicious flavor, all without any time-consuming prep! Every bite is filled with sweet apples, warming spices, and flaky puff pastry. It's the perfect breakfast or dessert for all the family!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup apples (chopped, any kind)
  • ⅓ cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • ½ teaspoon cloves
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed but cold)
  • 3 tablespoons butter (diced)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400ºF
  • Dice the apples into ¼ inch cubes.
  • Combine with sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves. Stir well.
  • Lay out the sheet of puff pastry and roll out slightly.

  • Slice strips ½ inch thick along each side, leaving 3-4 inches in the middle of the sheet.

  • Spread the apple mixture down the center of the puff pastry.

  • Dot the top with the butter.
  • Fold the strips of the puff pastry across the apples, alternating them so it looks like a braid.

  • Combine egg and water.
  • Brush the puff pastry with the egg wash.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown.
  • Drizzle with icing glaze, if desired.
