Hamburger Buns
Making homemade hamburger buns is easier than you think! Using just a few pantry staples, you can make soft and fluffy hamburger buns that rival anything in the grocery store. Stuff them with your favorite fillings and enjoy a delicious, homemade meal your family will love!

Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons yeast
- ¼ cup milk (1)
- ¾ cup water (see note)
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup butter (softened)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons water
Instructions
- Combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a medium bow or in the bowl of a stand mixer.
- Whisk together the milk, water, and egg. Add it to the dry ingredients.
- Mix until combined. Then knead for 5-8 minutes in a stand mixer or 10 minutes by hand until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and let rise until doubled, about an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375ºF.
- Form the buns, there will be 6-8. Roll into a tight ball.
- Set on a sheet pan. Cover and let rise for 20 minutes.
- Combine egg and water. Brush over the buns.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and/or poppy seeds, if desired.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown on top.
