Being outdoors, especially working outdoors, has always been the best way to even my temper, calm my nerves, and bring peace into my soul. That is one of the reasons why I love to have animals. They require care multiple times a day which ensures at least a daily dose of outdoor tonic. I remember feeling such relief a few weeks after Abram was born when my mom told me it was totally fine to take him outside as long as he was bundled up good!
We have all been taking full advantage of this lovely weather lately! I will go outside no matter what the weather is like, but 65 and sunny is just divine. On saturday, we started working on my chicken tractor! I will write a full post about how we did that, and what a chicken tractor is if you aren’t familiar with them. But for now, here is a sneak peak!
Normally when we go for walks, I just strap Abe on in my Moby wrap (which I love, by the way) and I get a nice workout that way. Yesterday though, I busted out the stroller because I had a grand plan worked out. I would walk him in the stroller, he would fall asleep, and I would be able to work on my chicken tractor without a baby strapped to my chest. I don’t mind carrying him around, but it’s a little scary for me to work on things like that with him on me, I don’t want to accidentally bump his head on something while I’m working.
Well. As it turned out he did indeed fall asleep but as soon as the stroller stopped he would start screaming. I guess this is what I get for not taking it easy while I was pregnant. A baby who likes – no – requires to be moving! So in the wrap he went and I got the quad workout of the year trying to awkwardly attach chicken wire to the chicken tractor while not bending over at all. With twist ties. Yes, twist ties that come on bread. But that’s a story for another day.
Moral of the story: being outside will always make me feel awesome. Being outside when the weather is nice is even more awesome. And next time I’m pregnant, I’ll try and nap more and move less.
