Actually, that’s kind of a lie. I went once when I was 14 with my church group of girls but I hardly remember it and there were adults there to take care of everything. Plus 14 year old me had boundless energy, could sleep anywhere, and survive on candy.
Not current me.
I was a little nervous because we were going to leave Abe behind with my mom. Not that my mom made me nervous at all. Just leaving him did! But I wanted to go once without him first so I could figure out what to expect and be more prepared to bring him next time.
It turned out to be really great! I basically almost died on the hike in. Bless Andy and my brother Bradford’s hearts. They stopped a lot. I am going to chalk it up to a combination of being semi-out-of-shape, asthma, and the elevation change. Also carrying a pack may have had something to do with it.
We only hiked 3 miles from where we parked the car to North Erickson Lake in the Uintas. It was so beautiful! Here is a gallery of all the pics! Captions appear once clicked.
