[…] The base frame of this DIY chicken tractor is made using 2×4’s. The cattle panel is arched from the inside from one end to the other and secured with staples. After attaching the cattle panel, you can secure the whole thing with chicken wire. longbournfarm […]

I had a spare frame and modeled my tractor after yours for my ducklings. Did your tractor have a door? I am stumped on how to create a door on the front for feed, water, getting animals out letting and letting animals free range. I can’t figure out how to make a secure door that also opens with a latch.
Alli says
I think you could make a door if you framed the front of the chicken tractor with wood and then mounted the frame on hinges. More work, but definitely worth it.
Carrie says
How big is the base? How tall is it? How many chickens does it hold?
Alli says
4×8 base, 2.5 ft tall but we just built it out of scrap. You can make it however large or small you want. That size is good for 2-3 chickens.

Great idea! I am also a scrapper. Lol
Just curious, is that one panel?
Alli says
Hi Susan! Yes, that is one panel.
A G Feeney says
What size panel is it?
Alli says
It’s a cattle panel that is 50 inches tall I think 6 ft long.
Buffy says
It is basic chicken math! Coop looks good!
